What information must I provide to establish a non-government school?
A proposed new individual non-government school must provide information to demonstrate that the proposed school has the capacity to comply with all registration requirements. The requirements are for provisional registration are detailed in Section 4 of the Registered and Accredited Individual Non-government Schools (NSW) Manual and Section 6 of the Registration Systems and Member Non-government Schools (NSW) Manual. They relate to:
- legal entity
- staff
- curriculum
- premises and buildings
- facilities
- safe and supportive environment
- discipline
- attendance
- management and operation of the school
- educational and financial reporting
- boarding facilities, if applicable

A proposed new non-government school seeking accreditation in addition to registration must provide information to demonstrate that the proposed school has the capacity to comply with all accreditation requirements. How do I start an individual non-government school?
Using Form 1, an application must be made not later than 31 March in the year preceding the year in which the proposed proprietor intends to commence operating.
